TRWC Company Update 2-10-2012
We have finished rebuilding the Orlando Reservoir Outlet Works and the reservoir is beginning to store water again. The value proposition to Two Rivers from the rebuild is that Two Rivers can rebuild and restore old reservoirs for 15% of the cost and a fraction of the time of new reservoirs. New reservoirs cost about $3,000 an acre foot and many, many years in permitting. Two Rivers can rebuild its reservoirs for $450 an acre foot and mere months in permitting and construction. We began the rebuild of the Orlando in August of 2011. We’ve completed it in February of 2012 in time to store the winter runoff. Total cost was $350,000 to restore 2,000 acre feet or $175 an acre foot.
Our next project on the Orlando is rebuilding the Orlando Reservoir Head Gate. A Head Gate is how you take water off the river and divert the water to your reservoir through your ditch. We began work this week. Below are some initial pictures. In the first picture, our engineers are laying the dimensions on the project. In the second picture, a construction team is placing the first sheet pile in the river. The diversion dam on the river will need to be able to withstand water walls of 200+ cubic feet per second (cfs) during spring runoff and rain storms.
